What is an NOC?

A no objection certificate (NOC) is a letter in which a person or organisation states they have no objection to something — an employer to an employee applying for a passport or visa, or a property owner to a tenant using the address for GST registration or address proof.

NOC format

It names who is issuing it and who it's for, their relationship (employee since a date, or occupant of a property), the purpose, a clear “no objection” statement, the date, and the issuer's signature.

Passport: NOC for government employees

Government and PSU employees applying for a passport submit an NOC or identity certificate from their employer; private-sector employees usually don't need one.
