An export invoice is the tax invoice a GST-registered business issues when it sells goods or services to a buyer outside India. Exports are zero-rated: you either export under a bond or Letter of Undertaking (LUT) without paying IGST, or pay IGST and claim it back as a refund.
The same invoice is used for customs clearance, the shipping bill and your GST refund, so its details must match those documents.
An export invoice carries the endorsement "SUPPLY MEANT FOR EXPORT UNDER BOND OR LETTER OF UNDERTAKING WITHOUT PAYMENT OF INTEGRATED TAX" or "SUPPLY MEANT FOR EXPORT ON PAYMENT OF INTEGRATED TAX". It shows your name, address and GSTIN; a serial number and date; the buyer's name and address; the delivery address; the country of destination; and each item's HSN, quantity and value.
Most exporters also show their IEC, the port of loading, the shipping bill number and the value in the buyer's currency. This generator adds them when you fill them in.
An export invoice must say "SUPPLY MEANT FOR EXPORT ON PAYMENT OF INTEGRATED TAX" or "SUPPLY MEANT FOR EXPORT UNDER BOND OR LETTER OF UNDERTAKING WITHOUT PAYMENT OF INTEGRATED TAX".
