A receipt voucher is the document a GST-registered business issues when it receives an advance payment before supplying goods or services. It records the advance and the tax on it, which is paid in the month the advance is received for services.
When you later supply and issue the tax invoice, you adjust the advance and the tax already paid against it. If the order is cancelled, you issue a refund voucher instead.
A receipt voucher shows your name, address and GSTIN; a serial number of up to 16 characters and the date; the customer's name, address and GSTIN; a description of the goods or services; the amount of the advance; the tax rate and amount; the place of supply for inter-state supplies; whether reverse charge applies; and your signature.
If the rate of tax isn't known when the advance is received, use 18%. Enter the advance before tax here: an ₹11,800 advance at 18% is ₹10,000 plus ₹1,800 tax.
